North West Atlantic Salmon Fly Guild
October 2006 meeting - Featuring The Rist Brothers Tying

The Guilds web site is here

You can read about the Guild and see some of the flies tied by the members on John McLain's site here

For the October meeting 10/21 - 10/22, the Guild had the Rist brothers, Edwin and Anton, demonstrate their amazing artistic tying skills. On Saturday 10/21. Edwin started tying a Ballyshannon and Anton started a Popham. Personally, I've never seen six hours of concentrated tying as these two demonstrated. Despite the heckling from some members of the guild, cameras, video, and homemade cookies, they stayed focused and proceeded with dramatic work.

Note: I was only present for the Saturday session, thus the pictures are incomplete, and the status of the flies undetermined.

The Rist's brought samples of their tying

Stunning to see the fine work in person.

After six hours ...

there are more than 20 IC feathers tied on Anton's Popham body.

Edwin's "golden" Ballyshannon is taking shape.
